Talk to me about life in the Channel Islands please

DH has a job opportunity in Jersey, and is shortlisted for another in Guernsey too. We live in Scotland so I must admit the warmer climate is seriously tempting.

Please can you give me honest thoughts on life on either island? We have a 4 month old baby and we are in our early 30s.

Also I understand cost of living is very high - can anyone give examples of this? DH would be on about £60k and I wouldn't work - is that too little?
