I want to create a "webpage" for my move to Germany

Am moving with family to Munich in July. I really want to create something like a MySpace page so family and friends can look up what we're up to and I can update it regularly. Joined MySpace last night and didn't realise it's more of a meeting place. Anyone got any suggestions on other websites where I can easily do this kind of thing (without having to learn Java, or whatever it's called)?

Hmmmm...maybe I should have posted this in the Geeky Stuff section

You could just set up a blog, they are pretty simple.
Or get a domain name and buy software that does all the technical work for you. We used a program called 'sitebuilder' which was so simple to use.

www.simplesite.com is really easy to use!

Suejonez used simplesite.com (as mentioned by schneebly) for her adoption journey blog and that was very effective (see here for her blog as an example of what you could do)

I think a blogsite would be easier to update - you can get a free one eg. from Google (www.blogger.com) or pay a very small fee to a better provider eg Typepad (www.typepad.com). I personally think Typepad route is the way to go and costs very little in return for very user friendly service that looks better and has fewer limits on things like photo sizes etc..

hi,

i am doing the same with my move to italy i thought it would be a good working diary.
i use blooger.com. i am not bothered about anybody else seeing it.
it is just for me and the girls, i am sure once i am more confident i might allow members of the family to know it exists.
its just nice to have all my feelings written down
good luck with it. when do you move?

debswad · 08/05/2007 17:29

oops just realised you move in July.
Sorry i am paying attention honest!

We used funtigo.com before our move abroad and it is very easy to use. You can show your pictures and type in your news, and make your own 'look' using their design choices.

We've moved abroad for a year and I am blogging on blogger. I have hidden it so that it doesn't appear if you search blogger so I feel a bit more confident about sharing it with people. I know friends and family are checking it a lot and enjoying keeping up with the kids.
