We got our permanent residents visas for Oz today!

I've just had a mad day. We finally have our visas for Australia and we leave the UK for good on 6th June. Meanwhile I have a whole house to pack up/lose and trips to Ireland and France to say goodbye to family booked. My head is totally spinning but after 18 months it feels really good to know it's finally happening! Hope to meet up with all the Sydney based mumsnetters very soon!

ooo congratulations, we moved out to oz last year and mostly love it. Can I recommend Pickfords (or any removal agency) to pack your stuff for you. We did it and it was honestly the best money we spent!

Thanks everyone. boobsgonesouth: DH and I met in Sydney 18 years ago, lived there for a year and only came to the UK as visas had run out. We always meant to go back, but 3 kids kind of got in the way The subject came up last year when there was a possibility of DH transferring with work; that didn't happen in the end but he has a job to go to, so we are really looking forward to the move. Flights booked, removal men coming to quote next week - OMG there is so much to do!

Good luck with the move. Are you flying with Emirates or Singapore airlines by chance? If you are you can get 50kg allowance with Emirates and 40kg allowance per person with Singapore airlines.
