sorry, that was my inner feminist having a shock moment there - imagine if a man had been told there was a need for nurses, teachers and administrators and had asked for something more 'manly'!

The official list is here - they want food prep people, hairdressers and dressmakers if they sound more fun than plastering

suzywong · 30/04/2007 12:26

Building Trades people are beating off work with big poo covered sticks over here and charging an arm and a leg

Food Prep only gets about 20 dollars an hour tops and that's on a weekend

OrmIrian · 30/04/2007 12:31

How about carpenters Suzy?

DH is a carpenter and very busy but not able to charge much. Not sure I'd persuade him though or that they'd want too old crocks like us...

suzywong · 30/04/2007 12:33

bring him on!
I need a chippy to work on my extension (Vicar)

OrmIrian · 30/04/2007 12:34

Vicar! You're extending the vicar? Or are you telling me that you are a vicar? Or were you calling me a vicar?

Confused....

suzywong · 30/04/2007 13:04

I mean it sounds like a line from a Sid James sitcom

chippy
extension
bring him on

geddit?

Does he have any experience of working with jarrah?

OrmIrian · 30/04/2007 13:06

Aha. It was a jooooke.... forgive me I'm slow this morning

Is jarrah a timber? No. I don't expect he does. And he would never ever emigrate. Bless him he moved from London to the wouth-west as a child and I think that experience scarred him for life....

OrmIrian · 30/04/2007 13:06

Or even the south-west.

eidsvold · 01/05/2007 06:50

seriously OrmIrian - they are desperate for anyone in the building trade - especially here in SE QLD - such a huge amount of development going on - they can't keep up with the work and you are waiting forever to try and get quotes and then work done as they are all tied up.
