Hi all, We are looking into making move in spring next year to LA. I am due to go out for a reccy next week. Top of the list is getting my daughter ( currently in year 1) into a high quality, public elementary school. She is quite a shy, sensitive child and I want to make sure the transition is as easy as possible. I have booked to go visit Franklin, Coeur de lane, Grant and Canyon. any others ones I should be thinking of ? thanks so much

Will you be living in Santa Monica? If you want to go to a school in their district you have to be living there or one of you working within the city limits and even then you have to go through a permit process - just worth considering. If you don’t live or work in SM it’s much harder to go to the schools (and traffic is a nightmare, def worth considering)

Venice is in LAUSD which can be a mixed bag and it’s really easiest to live in the catchment of your chosen school. We live in Mar Vista which is just east of Venice so we’re in LAUSD but a few of the local elementary schools are great so worth looking at: Mar Vista Elementary, Overland, Clover and Charnock are worth a look
