We want to move to Australia next year, my ex-p is australian, and dd also has australian passport.
I'm british, i'm young (25), and i currently work in a Bank for their Anti-money laundering compliance department,(have had this job for 18mths),

thing is, I went to the Immigration dept website and I don't seem to have enough points...

I think this is because I'm not sure what category my job comes under, nor have I worked in the industry for 3 years.

Um, so how can I get over there? I'd prefer not to have to rely on getting sponsored by a company...

Does anyone know if I get any points for being mum of an australian?

Please help, its soooo convoluted!

Hi Kateandfelicity, I know what you mean with convoluted We're looking into moving to Australia. My dh is from NZ so can just go there but I'm German. He can't get me in on a spouse visa for various reasons, however I can go in on a 5 year temporary visa (allows me to work) as a family member of a NZ citizen. There might be something like that for Oz citizens as well. Saying that your dd might be a bit young to qualify as the Oz citizen iykwim. Why don't you email the immigration department? I have found them extremely helpful as long as you convey the fact that you have had a good look on their site but just can't get to grips with it

MrsbigD,

Thanks for that, I'll try and contact the Embassy in London I suppose?

yes, dd is very young, (not even 2!)

would be great if I could get something like that though...

what's annoying is, they have just passed new laws in australia specifically on what I do... however, unemployment in Oz is 3% - so they must need people like me somewhere!

I'll give the embassy a try...

wish me luck, and do let me know how you get on?

K

If you get no luck there, I can give you an email address for an immigration agent we used, might give some advice.

Sandcastles, that would be great, thanks so much!
