Sydney/London - Qantas or Etihad

Hi all, I'm going a short trip back to the UK for about a week from Sydney (urgh, I know) and wondered whether anyone had any feedback on either of these airlines and which was better!? OH will be taking children back a few weeks earlier so he'll have a bit more time but we'll all fly back on way home - so kids entertainment is a factor!

Ethiad have got a newer fleet and they're generally well regarded. Assume it's a refuel in Singers/HK and then a stop in Abu Dhabi, whereas Qantas would just be the one stop I would think.

I always think the additional stop can be nice but it depends on flight timing. Nothing worse than finally getting kids to sleep and then having to get off the plane.

Etihad have an on board nanny who goes round and helps out with younger kids if that would help at all.

Both are good airlines, not a lot between them. Which has the shortest time/best departure time?

You can also book eithad with flybuys so you get a fair but of points/cash back.

It would be Etihad for me, having flown both - especially with nippers Smile

Great, thanks all. We actually ended up booking with Qatar Airways and my DH has already taken the DC's back to the UK and said that it was good. Short stopover (1 hour 20) in Doha and no issues - good entertainment, food and flight attendants.

Interested in the entertainment available on Etihad - is it good? video on demand, lots of choice for children? We always go BA because I've been let down before by other airlines and their "entertainment" but am willing to be converted.

Thumbwitch - actually flying with Qatar airways now - go this Friday so will let you know! I've heard Etihad supposed to be good entertainment though.
