On the occasion of a certain someone's birthday thought it was about time we had another meetup.

All and any newbies welcome, dates? Sunday late August? Enough time to gird our loins.

I'll go and have a look at a calendar now

I'm a bit pissed off. The weather is going to be rubbish shite so bbq is cancelled and could come to mussels thing, but feeling too ropey at the moment.

Have been battling with an old/new auto-immune thing that has finally done for me - to the extent that I can't even manage school run this afternoon. Will get myself to doctor tomorrow to see if she can provide any new magic, but at present rate (i've been waiting 3 weeks to feel better) will not make it into the city.

would it be very unhelpful if I woke up on Sunday morning and just felt able to turn up?

Cheers,

Bear in Great Soreness

I like your new name, Iborgia! Grin

Of course you can just turn up on the day, not an issue. We generally share a mobile phone number with you so you can contact at least one of us to make sure it's all going ahead and we're there and so on; but just at the moment that might not be quite the best plan!!

However, if you're using a smartphone, then IF anything happens to go wrong, we'll post a message on here to let you know - you don't need to tell us, just show up :)

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 20/08/2015 03:38

Oh and arse to the bad weather and immune thingy - well, not too much arse to the bad weather if it means you can come and see us - but hope you feel better very soon. Thanks

bunnygirl80 · 20/08/2015 13:04

What did you book it under Too? I don't want to be first to arrive and have to guess Grin

ChaircatMiaow · 20/08/2015 13:09

Ooo I am jealous. Would love to go and meet you fellow MNers but can't this weekend.

Please count me in for the next one and hopefully lborgia, you feel up to it Flowers

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 20/08/2015 14:09

oh shame, Chaircat! (Like the name update there too :) )

I forgot to mention, in case anyone has any interest in it, that tomorrow and Saturday, there is a gluten free expo at Sydney Olympic Park, free entry to all comers. I'll be going tomorrow as I can't go on Saturday. I went last year, and although there weren't too many free samples going begging, there were some good deals on buying stuff. I don't know if any of you have any need for GF stuff (I do) but anyway. Here's the link: www.glutenfreeexpo.com.au/ :)

lborgia · 20/08/2015 14:23

Ha! bitter eeyore type ha that would be great.. Need a bit of help transitioning to full on gf - but not able to, because of gf related stuff.

I envisage the easter show for fussy poppets? Enjoy Smile

Hello chaircat and everyone else!

lborgia · 21/08/2015 14:09

How was the expo? Any good specials? I had a sudden rush of blood to the head (aka giving in and taking steroids) and thought I might go and have a look. And then thought maybe not after 3 weeks confined to base Grin . have you ever been to the ideal home exhibition? Loved that.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 21/08/2015 16:50

It wasn't too bad, I missed a few stands that had been there last year but not this year, but there were some new ones in too and I managed to spend a shedload of money. Freebies were few and far between (although I managed to get a special wangle on some chocolate biscuits purely through whinging that they'd changed the formulation and I didn't like the new version! Grin) but they had some good deals on, for e.g. buying Orgran pasta at 3 bags for $5 when it's normally around the $3 (give or take) per bag in the shops. Got some AMAZING chocolate sauce for icecream etc as well, and some nice herbal restorative teas; and bought a recipe book from someone who has multiple allergy/intolerances in her family, so the recipes are all wheat/dairy/egg/gluten/corn/yeast/soya/ tomato/nut and possibly a few other things excluded - yay! and got some really nice baking mixes too.

Also discovered that most of the people who do corn-based products are definitely and defiantly GMO-free, including Coles (not that I eat corn much but other people I know do and it's good to know that info).

I paid for 2h on the parking meter and it was enough, as I didn't want or need to see any of the demos/talks - but 3h might be safer if you want to go tomorrow. :)

lborgia · 21/08/2015 22:01

Ok, call me shallow, I'm fixated by the amazing chocolate sauce. . Can you get it at supermarkets? The anti every allergy cookbook sounds great too. .

lborgia · 23/08/2015 09:59

How was the mussel meet up? I was awake alot last night with coughing, about 3 hours sleep, so today was a wash out.

Hope you had a lovely time. Smile

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 23/08/2015 10:15

It was very good thank you - sorry you couldn't make it but don't blame you on only 3h sleep!
Only 3 of us in the end, but that's fine - good catching up as usual.
And the mussels were excellent! Grin
(oh and they do wine as well as beer Wink)
