Queensland in August - clothing

Hiya, we will be in Broadbeach for first two weeks of August and I'm wondering what clothing we'll need... I have a feeling the weather will be either fairly mild or chilly on a wet day but not cold cold?? Any tips appreciated!!

Place marking as we will be there too! Don't have a clue what clothes to take. Aussies keep telling me it will be cold and uk expats say it will be warm!?!

August is winter, but will feel warm to Brits. Bring something light and warm for the evenings because you won't find it in the shops as the stock will be for spring.

Hmm I'd say take a bit of everything! jeans, jumper, thin raincoat, sun hat, t-shirts/shorts/dress....it will be about 20-25 C in the day, 10-15 C at night....so if you go out in he evening you will need winter going out stuff...in my case that's jeans, boots, top and cardy!!

Probably dry .. Normally rain free from July till October.
Will feel warm from the UK.
My mum visits from France and says it's warm during the day, shorts t shirts. Cooler at night. Long sleeves and jumper.

Great thanks everyone, that actually sounds ok - mild during the day coolish in the evening, jeans for going out at night suits me just fine! Hopefully we get such a fabulous summer that the Queensland winter will feel at least a little nippy ;)

I think I might need a lightweight jacket tho, will check out some stores!

In July it was warm enough to lie around and enjoy the outdoor pool in the day but we needed a jumper in the evenings. It was very humid some days too.

Queensland summers are brilliant. Warm, but not hot (about 24 degrees during the day) and generally sunny.

Beware the nights though - the temps don't sound cold (10-15) but none of the Aussie homes I lived in, visited, had friends living there had double glazing or insulation. The nights felt much colder than I was used to from the UK - I ended up buying hot water bottles and electric blankets!

Goldmandra - you were obviously hardier than us - our outdoor pool got used from November to March! The point at which our Labradors decided it was too cold (and they used to swim in the Avon!) we agreed!

We are going to take cheapy wetsuits so the kids can use the pool / have a play on the beach :)

I think maybe we were just lucky and hit a warm spell. We were only there for a few days.
