Waiting frustration

We have been on our current assignment now for coming up for 4 years and we decided at the start of this school year that this would be our last here as it's time to move on. DH made it clear to his company that we would not renew again (have done twice already) and he's due to finish this summer. Despite him going back to the UK a couple of times and rumblings happening, we are STILL waiting to find out what the next move is. There has been vague discussion over the last few months about possible places and roles but they have died a death and finally, in the last few weeks, discussion of the move by his company has really picked up, but we're still nowhere near knowing where we're going and it's starting to panic me especially since we will need to find school places for our 2 DCs. We could be either going back to the UK for a bit or elsewhere abroad so an extremely vague area and i would really like to enjoy my last few weeks here but i just feel completely stressed by everything.
I know this is a pretty common experience for expats but I was just wondering if anyone else is going through this at the moment so we could have a support/moaning thread Wink .

Hi everyone.
Nice to have a forum to bemoan our situations!

Adaloveslace: where in the SF Bay Area will you be? We are currently in the Silicon Valley--land of google, apple, Facebook! Cost of living is extremely high. Silicon Valley is considered part of the SF Bay Area. Does your husband work for a high-tech company?

I can recommend areas here that have top notch schools and excellent communities. However after living in a very urban place in the east coast and coming here to SV, it is hard to find that wholesome, community feel.

Hi everyone, I agree Belgium that it's nice to share the moaning on MN! I said up thread I think that I was keeping quiet on our possible move deliberately but I find all people ever talk about here in qld is 'how long' you staying and where you are off to next....it's hard when we still have no info at all from DHs company (except we know we are not going to Russia now)....I'm finding the chat boring and the idea of staying long term boring too....I think I just need some clear timescales but know I will never get any, hum

Hello again,
Anybody had any news?

16 days until school finishes and we head back to uk for summer and still no bloody news!

Dd has to have an assessment at our chosen school so we need to hear this week so we can pop over and enrol her. I can't leave for the uk until this is done Sad

The school she is currently in here has a waiting list, it's in such a huge demand that we have had an email today saying the years school fees need to be paid by the 20th of this month or her place will be given away for sept Shock

Dh forwarded the email to head office demanding either they pay to guarantee my dd a space or we have a contract for kl signed by then...

So still we wait

Hope you are all having better luck than us
