Emigration- those left behind- what was the impact for you?

Have you had a close family member emigrate and how has that affected your family? Much is made of the feelings of those that go to live abroad
, but how has that affected you and your family left behind. I have personal experience of his and wondered about others. Sometimes the full impact is not felt immediately, but years later. I would be interested to hear stories.
