Hi, I live in Estepona on the Costa Del Sol. There are quite a few mumsnetters in Spain. Look forward to chatting to you.

Hello fellow Spain Dwellers. I am living in a village in the mountains just east of Malaga. Would like to know if any of you have had a baby in Spain. I have a son, born in the UK, but I am pg now and having to make decisions about whether to have the baby here or go back to the UK.

costamum · 16/07/2006 20:46

Hi there - I live in Malaga itself - been in Spain for nearly 6 years now and I had both my
DS's here.... cat me if you like!

lucy5 · 19/07/2006 13:42

Hello, i forgot about this thread. I had my dd in Uk but am due to have my baby here in December.

Steff, I have lived here for 2.6 years so far. There isn't a particular thread for us Spain dwellers but you have just started one

hi can anyone tell me what formulas are available in spain?

SenoraPostrophe · 19/07/2006 18:11

formulas - nestle and milupa. there's another one made by the people who make sma but you can only buy that in chemists and it's expensive. no cow and gate.

thenamegame - really - you'd consider going back to the uk for potentially 6 weeks before the birth plus however long it takes to get a passport afterwards? that'd be awkward wouldn't it? anyway hospital care here good but v old fashioned by uk standards ( they still have stirrups in some places and there is no birth pool in the whole of andalucia). I wrote an article about it here

bamboozleslover · 19/07/2006 18:15

apparently theres one called almiron made by the cow & gate people. is this expensive too?

SenoraPostrophe · 19/07/2006 18:19

that's the one you can only buy in chemists. I seem to remember it's expensive, yes.

the cheap one here is called Hero - dd used to have that.

bamboozleslover · 19/07/2006 18:22

how long ago did you live in mijas costa then?

SenoraPostrophe · 19/07/2006 18:23

erm 3 years ago I think. memory a bit crap. we lived in clahonda (mijas costa is a sort of sprawl of "urbanisations"). my fave restaurant has just burned down though so I'm not much use in the recommendations dept.

bamboozleslover · 19/07/2006 18:24

oops wrong thread!!

bamboozleslover · 20/07/2006 21:01

the place we are going to is called "riviera del sol" in mijas costa.

also can anyone tell me if american express cards are widely accepted in spain?
