Singapore New Year's Eve????

Hi
Just thought I'd ask anyone who lives locally if they know where the best place for New Year's Eve might be.
It will just be my husband and I (the kids will be with babysitter).

We ideally would like a nice meal, then to be able to have dancing etc after in same place.

Is it best to try and stay as close as possible to the hotel as taxis might be too hard to find on New Year's Eve?

Thanks

The fireworks are let off at midnight at Marina Bay, so places with a view of the bay are very popular. I suggest you have a look at the websites of the hotels near the bay to see what they are offering for NYE.

where will you be staying? Marina bay area or Orchard, sentosa? …or else?

NY eve or not, taxis are a nightmare in Sg ATM! walking distance is a good idea though

Thanks, staying at Orchard so I will look into places near there so we won't need to rely on cabs.

I'd be tempted to say Somewhere on Dempsey hill. Its really not far from Orchard. The is where a lot of the local expats will be if they are not at house parties or in the Marina area.
You can call SMRT or CITICAB to pre-book a cab from any of the restaurants/bars.

On Orchard, the Salt Grill and Bar on top of Ion is pretty cool. email them to enquire about New Year's dinner as it not yet mentioned on their website.

If you are not looking for something too sophisticated, there are lots of quite casual bars along Orchard and some seriously rowdy behavior in Orchard Towers Grin I'll let the other Sg mumsnetters tell you all about that!

On another night try the ang siang hill/ bukit Pasoh/ duxton hill restaurants. Serious food, good bars, mots of locals/expats

Thanks for the tips. Am getting very excited. Had a fab NYE in HK a few years ago and I know singers will be FB too. Ku de ta might be fun too?

The Salt Grill and Bar looks good Master, how do you reach it? Is it via the residences or through the mall?
