My dp and i are hoping to move to Aussie Next year but i have had loads of people putting me off lately saying there are LOADS of spiders everywhere all the time! - if this is true it could be a problem as i am truly truly terrified of spiders!! Can anyone who lives there or has lived there and knows for sure give me an idea of how bad spiders are out there please? i would be most grateful xx

scully - here in QLD if you have ever held a licence - for me they just went back through the system saw I had had one and gave me a renewal..... even though I only had a UK licence at that stage - Aussie one had expired.

There are spiders and the odd dangerous one but I only saw them in unkempt places like old shedsor phone boxes. Didn't seem common at all.

Wanna hear my spider story??

Dh (who is English and shocking with creepy crawlies) spotted a huge huntsman in the living room last summer. As it was so big and they can run like all buggery we decided it should meet its maker. Dh decides to whack it with the broom handle (cue much comedy running benny hill style) and lands a big smack in the middle of the spider. Spider explodes and a huge chunk of grey 'stuff' lands on dh's cheek. It was hanging, and wobbling, like jelly. Dh was almost gagging, yelling at me to wipe it off. I ran because I was pregnant and normal things made me sick, let alone spider jelly. My mother couldn't beleive it - said she had never heard of it happening to anyone, so it has to happen to dh who was wobbly about moving here with all the 'death causing things' in the first place!

Can't say I've missed huntsmans during the 13yrs I've not lived in Queensland.....and you're right, they run so fast, always in the same direction as you
Great news Eidsvold, I had a Qld licence for 5 yrs and then a Vic licence for 6yrs, then a UK one. Just dh who will have to study now
