Sydney mners need help - where to say?

Hello ladies

We're planning a trip to Sydney - prob November (after dh finishes his study), we live in Adelaide so want to take the kids to see some culture, a BIG city, the zoo, aquarium etc but I wondered if you have recommendations of where to stay and what else to see?

We have friends in Bondi and would like to see them but don't need to be right next door. We want somewhere that is close to the sights but won't totally leave us broke for the next 10 years. An apartment would be good rather than a hotel I guess.

Also apart from the obvious sights do you have recommendations of things to do, places to go? We'd only be there for prob a weekend - poss 3 nights - the kids are 6 & 8.

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

When we go to Sydney we stay outside n train in. Our favourite is bulli,staying in a cabin on the beach at the tourist park. Or western burbs like Camden.
I'm sure there are sensible prices to be had on a city apartment..

Thanks Chloe, I'll look into it. I found the most amazing place on Stayz (harbour front) but would cost more than I earn a month to rent it per night .

What do you do when in Sydders?

We stayed in the World Tower which was nice - full kitchen and laundry including a dryer, and absolutely fantastic views, and close to Darling Harbour and the playgrounds there, but we could also walk a short way to a bus/train around the city. Nowhere near Bondi though.. If you google you should find discount codes. PM me for more info if you want. I'm not sure if there's a minimum stay there - but iirc it was vastly cheaper in the week than over the weekend.

Have you tried air bnb, i did this search bondi junction or paddington or cbd, personally i would stay in town, but that's me i think

Have a look at the Adina in Coogee. My oarents have stayed there a few times. They are apartments and a good standard. There's an indoor pool too.

Coogee has lots of places to eat and drink, is about 25 mins from the centre on a bus (that passes Centennial Park and the SCG) and is about 15 mins in a cab of rom Bondi beach or there's a bus to the Junction. Actually in summer, there's a bus to Bondi Beach too.

The beach is good too, plus you have the coastal walk which is stunning.

The zoo is brilliant but SOO expensive - you can get a ferry from Circular Quay. Don't know if you are members of Adelaide zoo, but worth checking if that gets you into Taronga, as it's about $40 per adult. Daylight robbery but great.

Your kids might like Luna Park too. Climb one of the pylons athe side of the bridge. That's only $10 and it's a fantastic view.

Have a look at adventure passes that include the Centrepoint tower, the aquarium and Wildlife World.

Gert (love your name) yes, if we get Adl Zoo membership we're entitled to get into Taronga for free, I think it's worth it as Adl zoo is lovely for the kids.
