Chances of finding a job in Germany

I'm German, but have lived in the UK for 15 years now and did my degree here. Since graduating, I have worked in fairly good jobs in local govt (unrelated to my degree). There's a possibility that I might move back to Germany with the kids (6 and 3) in a few years, but I'm worried that I may not find work, as I haven't got a degree from a German uni or a Ausbildung - any advice? I mean a reasonable job, not waitressing / minimum wage type work...
Is there anything I ought to do in the meantime to enhance my chances?

I'm British and have been living in Germany for 14 years, have a degree from an English uni and my suggestion would be to try and get a job with a British company. When I first came here I found it really hard to even get an interview with a German company as they didn't recognise my degree and it wasn't very vocational. Bachelor degrees are a lot more common here now though so that may not be such an issue anymore but you may find the transition easier as corporate culture can be very different!

Maybe do some research to see if there are any British companies in the are you are thinking of moving to?

Oh and I meant to say your English skills will be a huge bonus as every job advert specifies the need for English no matter what the job is!

I'd say it really depends on what your degree is in. My degrees are in business admin and computing, and those would be recognised here. But I also did a pgce, and this will never be recognised as a full teaching qualification here. If I wanted to get a proper contract teaching at a (non private) school, I would need to go to uni all over again.

You could also try a global company, there are quite a few in Germany now. I work for a Global sports company who have their roots in Bavaria, and they take a lot of international people, regardless of where they obtained their degree.
