car nsurance in illinois or for expats

Hi - as you all know just movd to chicago and now trying to buy a car - has anyone had any expereince with good auto insurers who don't look at expats as the devil ( or jut don't insure you)
We are struggling to find someone....

Have you been to State Farm? Their agents are very good.

Why are you having a problem?

If you take a 'certificate of no claims' from your UK insurer, get your US license, then you shouldn't be treated any differently from anyone else.

BTW, American auto insurance is very expensive compared to the UK as it has a large medical element added onto it.

Thanks for that will try them - as we have health insurance understood you can take some of that out of the auto insurance element - so said my book living and wkg in usa.....?
