OK, so may be more interesting to Aussies here in the UK and the Grauniad isn't everyones "cup of tea", but I thought some of you might be interested in this...

Given that you now have to pay for The Age (which was my link back to Oz for the last few years), this may be a good alternative.

Thanks Rock! I'm really excited about this. And some decently-funded non-Murdoch online media can only be a good thing in Australia.

Cheers Jassy, I'm glad someone else is excited!

I'd seen this mooted for some time, as I am a proud Guardianista. For years the comments in the Guardian online have been infested with Aussies as they/we see the Guardian several hours before the Brits get a look-in.

It can only be good, and I was pleased, though saddened to see a plea from a kiwi for NZ to be included in a more independent southern hemisphere rag. At the same time I'm taken aback to automatically being routed to the au edition when I'm used to the UK.

One of the things I noticed when moving here was to read a really good article in the paper (the Age) think wow, scan down and see it was from a UK rag.Hmm

Good to see articles in the OzGuard ( name patent pending) that don't appear in the Age or the tiresomely right-wing Australian.
