Hi all,
I would be very grateful for any feedback !
We are moving to Sydney next summer & I am hoping to re join the work force after almost 7 years at home with the kids ( can't believe where the time went ). I'm an accountant but I know the industry is very changed now so I was thinking of trying out some contract roles as accounts assistant or something like that to dip my toe in the water.
I know it's very difficult to re enter the work force after a long period but I was wondering does any one have any insights, or experience of this in Sydney ?
Any and all input appreciated !

Hi, my dh is a corporate accountant in Melbourne with a big company. I'm sure he would happily answer any questions you have as he loves talking about

a) moving to Australia
b) accountancy

Hi SavoyC
gosh that would be great - I guess my main questions are about re-entering the workforce after such a long time - has he noticed if there are many/any older staff restarting a career and are there many casual / contract positions available ?
I've looked at the job web-sites but am finding it hard to get a 'feel' for the market. There seem to be plenty of contract positions but I'm not sure if they are looking for young newly qualifieds or if they would even consider someone in my position.
Thanks again, hope you are enjoying Melbourne

Hi, he says that qualifications and what jobs you have done before would be far more relevant than age and having a career break. He says are you looking at corporate, personal or ........I can't remember the other one.
