Visiting friends in Germany: ideas for gifts?

We are going to stay with friends in Germany for a week (our holiday this year!). They have very kindly invited us to stay with them and have offered to pick us up from airport etc. We'd like to get them a thank you gift. Preferably something a little "british" without being tacky and that they couldn't get without a bit of effort in Germany. Can anyone help with some ideas?
Would a board game/english tea/english biscuits or something be a bit rubbish?
The friends are a couple, in their early thirties, rented apartment, no kids btw if that helps! Would really appreciate any help or suggestions!

A tea pot, tea bags and English biscuits? (You'll have to teach them how to use the pot though - my Dutch DP was clueless until I trained him

We vivisted friends abroad last year and i took them an Emma Bridgewater tin with Taylors coffee & biscuits in. That way they got to keep the tin as a keepsake.

Or if they're drinkers, how about a bottle of sloe gin?

I took my Dutch relatives some port and Stilton once. They LOVED the stilton and were amazed anyone outside Holland made cheese but were puzzled as to why port was an English drink when it was made in Portugal

Nice biscuits, nice chocolate (a change from the ubiquitous lindt) and good tea. When we lived in Germany local friends always asked us to bring these back from our trips home.

When I lived in Germany I longed for Marmite, Cadburys chocolate and pg tips. Anyone who visited would bring some.

Some great ideas there - thanks very much! Putting the gifts in a gift-tin is ideal too for packing! Vielen Dank ;-)
