Hello

I moved to Singapore 3 weeks ago and we've just moved into our apartment in Bukit timah. I have 2 kids ds is 3.5 and dd is 16 months and would like to get out and start meeting people around our area. Does anyone live around this area and know of things that are going on and best way to meet people? My mum is currently with us but goes next Tuesday so will be on my own.
Also I'm looking to get window restrictors on my windows as they open so wide and both my kids are climbers can anyone recommend anything or somewhere I can go as not having much luck on the Internet. I have found something but they want to charge $100 per lock including installation.
What's the best DIY store to go to as well as looking for some other stuff like a pole for one of my closets?

Thanks x

hello and welcome to Singapore !!

Re meeting people, theres a few good ways:

St Georges Playgroup tel 64732877, they have a thrice weekly playgroup that is really popular and a great way to meet people. They may have a waiting list but I think over the summer its more of a drop in so definitely call them and ask about it.

NMSG (New Mothers Support Group) www.nmsg-singapore.com holds monthly walks/talks, bimonthly coffee mornings and socials (at play centres)

Meetup groups, I just found this one for you www.meetup.com/Bukit-Timah-Playgroup/ but there are loads on there if you search playgroups in Singapore.

Good luck !

Welcome to Singapore! I hope you're settling in.
You can also try the playgroups offered by some of the associations - the American Women's Association offers playgroups for different aged children and the Australian and New Zealand Association has a weekly get together at Go Go Bambini, a soft play centre in Dempsey, with free play, craft, stories etc for the kids and coffee and chat for the Mums. You can join regardless of nationality.
I have a 3 yo DD and live in Holland Village if you'd ever like to meet up!

DIY shops I use include Holland Village shopping centre level 3 and Great World City in basement near Cold Storage. Both have a good selection. Jelita Cold Storage level 2 is also pretty good.

As you are in bukit timah, try the soft play at turf city. Lots of expats escaping the heat in there but not sure how many are around at the moment.

There is also a home fix closer to you in novena square.

Hope it helps.
