Trial period in sunny Europe?

Oh my goodness I am so desperate to find a solution I thought I'd see if fellow mumsnetters have any ideas...
I've been trying to find out where to move to for months now and it's just not happening so maybe it's time to take smaller 'steps'?
We have 2 months, a bit of money and an urgent desire to rest and recuperate somewhere sunny in the countryside/seaside with a view to long term stay/living. A trial period if you like.
Where to go? I've scoured websites and the likes but can only find holiday accomodation or long term rentals of a year +
Does anyone know of anywhere for rent preferably in sunny Europe? Or a particularly good local classifieds page? Portugal and Greece are current favourites but we'll consider other locations.
Thanks for helping a desperate mama out in hour of need!

Hi Ivana
Thanks for your thoughts.... tried owner direct route, nothing happenning but am beginning to think the camping touring idea is the way to go in that something will probably present itself that way.
Thanks!

I don't know how hot and sunny you want your location to be but the Alps are lovely in the summer and full of places to stay. I saw a place in Chamonix last year that rents for ?25,000 for the winter season and ?2,500 for the whole of the summer season!!

If scouring the Internet isn't working, try local tourist offices if you have chosen a location as they often have lists of accommodation and they may also have long term lets available for seasonal workers etc.
