Hello, I'm in the process of setting up on my own and wondered if any of you had any funny experiences to tell.

I will be doing "preparation" work at home and no clients will visit - I will go to them or use conference facilities. It's literally going to be me with a laptop in the spare room.

Because my chosen "profession" is not in the approved list of 20 (e.g., lawyer, dentist - who actually do have clients visit...) I need a permit to operate!

Now this is easy enough to obtain... As soon as I produce the council-approved street/house/ground map things so they can assess whether me using PowerPoint in the office will be detrimental to the neighbourhood! ;)

Anyone else dealing with bonkers beaurocracy.
