Sydney meet up before we leave!

Hello all. We are due to leave Sydney on the 29th March (sob!) and I was thinking it would be fab to meet up with people one last time before I leave. Would anyone be up for it? We have pretty much no firm plans between now and going, so any time suits me!

If you're stopping off in Bangkok on your way back - let me know! :D

I'm still up for it. Not liking this rain much though, took me 2hrs to get home from work today due to crap visibility, random waterfalls pouring onto the road and a fallen tree Shock

[bshock] bunny!
Happy Burns night, btw - even though it's over now and it's technically Australia Day but I don't think Techs would do upside down smileys for us, however hard I begged! [bgrin]

Yes I'm still on for the 19th! I hope the weather is a tad better by then, although according to SMH there's a high chance of rain nearly every day for the next 4 weeks!

Yuck - that's too much rain! Want some summer before we go back! We are in jervis bay at the moment, and it feels like an English summer holiday with the rain and low temperatures. Fingers crossed the forecast is wrong.

Yay! What time were we planning on meeting? Ds1 now has a birthday party in artarmon to go to from 10-12, but I figure I can hand him over to his dad at the end of it, and then hop straight on the train into the city, which won't take long.

12:30 is the usual meet up time, does that still work ok? I'm a little constrained by the hourly trains from where I am, but I can work round other people :)

12:30s fine with me

12.30 is fine with me too. I may be a little late depending on how the trains are running. On the other hand, I may let DH take DS1 and DS2 to the party, and then I will be there on time, having had a very chilled out morning! Here's hoping the weather is like it was this morning, and not like it is now!

Sunday is still good for me. The PIL are arriving on Sunday morning (I knew the date rang a bell Blush) but they arriving early so it should be fine!

Have a glass or two for me. I was in a car crash a couple of weeks ago (an uninsured driver smashed into me when I was stopped at lights on my way to work so complete nightmare) and I have horrible whiplash so I'm staying pretty close to home at the moment. Bon voyage Eralc!

oh can't do Sunday because we have some friends round for a bbq :(

Sorry to hear about your accident, sunnyd.

oh God, I'm really sorry but there's a high possibility I may have to pull out of tomorrow. DS has a temp, no other symptoms other than feeling crappy in general - and I have no idea what it is or whether it's infectious. If I do come, it will be strictly hands-off everyone else and I'll sit a little further away from you all (only even considering it because it's out in the open) and as far as possibly from abithormonal; but I'll have to decide in the morning.

Eralc - if DS turns out to be just suffering from an unnamed virus I may be able to come in one day to see you (with or without DS) - just meet up for coffee or something? - but we'll have to play that by ear as well because we're flying back to the UK on 1st March, returning here on 27th March (almost crossing over with you at the airport! Wink)

I will assess the situation in the morning and let you know, on here and by text - I have to catch the 10:15 train if I'm coming, so you'll know by then. Fingers crossed!

Hurrah! DS is better, completely, so looks like I am coming after all. Will still keep a bit of distance just in case but looks like it was a 24h virus thingy that has now gone.

Will drive in to Roseville and take the train from there - less restrictive in coming home again. :)

See you all soon!

I'm so sorry to pull out at such nortice, I really wanted to meet you and get some much needed Sydney tips. DH's parents have just arrived from Bangkok having developed violent food poisoning half way through the flight! I've just cleaned up in the bathroom twice and I don't feel I can leave DH with them and the DCs, they are quite poorly. Have a lovely afternoon. Good luck Eralc!

So sorry you couldn't make it, Seymore but I'm sure we'll have another gathering soon enough :)
Sounds horrendous though, your PILs situation - hope they recover soon!
On a purely practical note, who were they flying with and what do they think set the food poisoning off? Was it the airline food or did they eat anything in Bangkok?

Lovely to see you all again, Eralc, Bunny, Abit and RVP - Eralc, have a great journey home when you go and stay in touch :) xx

Thanks Thumbwitch, I will definitely be up for the next one! Yesterday was quite something. DH's dad is over 6 foot tall and quite big, the sight and sound of him being sick was terrifying! Poor DH's mum was very apologetic and trying to clean up after the both of them but not in any fit state to do it.
They think the food poisoning was from their hotel in Bangkok, they didn't eat anything on the plane because they were already feeling sick. I'm trying to persuade them to complain to the hotel because they were really unwell!

Thumbwitch · 19/02/2012 21:45

Poor people, that's really nasty! The didn't drink the water or have ice in their drink or anything did they?
Hope it doesn't last too much longer, for everyone's sake!
