Christmas in Queensland / Sydney

We are going to be spending the weeks around Christmas this year in Queensland - some time in Brisbane and some time on the Sunshine Coast, plus a few days in Sydney. I would love to do some Christmassy things. Has anyone local got any tips - are there carol concerts on, good Santa's grottos, pantos, Christmas lights etc? If they're small-children friendly, that would be a plus. Thanks.

There is a fab santa in Double Bay (syd) real beard and all.
Pantos don't really happen in Aus - I've never heard of one here.
Carols are everywhere. Where in Syd will you be staying?
Can't help re Qld I'm afraid.

The Myer centre in the Queen St Mall in Brisbane's centre has a Christmas area - I believe there is a small train as well as FC (we haven't been yet!).

Here is the link to the Brisbane city webpage with links on to Xmas things, and here is the link to the Sunshine coast.

Bear in mind that it's summer holidays for kids over here, everywhere is likely to be busy! It's our first Christmas here and it is freaking me out slightly Xmas Confused
