Wow,have just gone to post and it wouldn't except it! So have had to start a new thread. Hope everyone finds it ok.I feel a bit like we've all been out for the night and somehow got seperated and no one has their mobile!!Grin
Anyway, this was the question I've had to cut and paste from the old thread:...

Sorry, have had a quick look but can't see...has anyone used emirates?
I think the sky couch thing looks good, but we'd have to buy a couple and that would be pricey.
Dh reckons Emirates are fine, but I don't think he's anticipating how different it's going to be travelling that disatnce with 3 exhausted infants.
He has limited travel experience as it is and the longest he has been on a plane with them is 3 hours. He keeps saying it will be fine, they'll sleep for loads of it...somehow I'm thinking this will not happen!!

Oh AB - I'm welling up over your gran Sad.

AngryBeaver · 15/11/2011 21:32

Our flight leaves from manch at 1pm on wed 23rd (1 week tomorrow!)if you want to come and wave us off Grin
and yes,we have tenants. Weirdly they've just returned from 4 years in NZ!

lolly It was pretty bad. She's started to lose it a bit recently, after a stroke. It was propbably better that she wasn't fully aware of what I was telling her, though. I broke down in the hall but had to pull myself together when I realised had two little faces peering at me. I have always been very very close to my Grandparents. They picked me up everyday from school and I spent most weekends with them. We lost Grandad a few years ago,and in a way I'm glad, because I don't think I could bear to see the look on his face.Sad

lollystix · 15/11/2011 21:48

Oh I'm sad again reading your last post but there is no way round it sadly and you can't lead a life on hold for other folk. We haven't told DHs family at all about how we've been trying to go as it will really upset his mum - no point worrying her.

You will keep in touch on the other side and let us know how it's going?

We've had a smidgen more news. Call re role possibly in Auckland. The good news is the contact stressed he wanted it sorted soon as he needs folk and DH stressed we can't go on in limbo. He said by end of week we should know yay or nay. If there is a role just then depends if DH happy with it.

AngryBeaver · 16/11/2011 07:27

Oooooh, that sounds promising, lolly. I really hope it comes off for you guys.
Of course I'll update as soon as poss when we get to Hamilton. Booked the motel last night, hope it's not grim!

OP posts:
Highlander · 16/11/2011 07:50

Don't know how much longer you'll be online AB? I'm bursting with excitement for you; update us as soon as you can down under.

thelittlestkiwi · 16/11/2011 07:57

Good luck for the trip AB.

One other tip is to get your mobiles unlocked before you leave. Lots of people are on PAYG here.

ScroobiousPip · 16/11/2011 08:01

Oooh, only just found your new thread. Fingers crossed for you AB for next week!

LadyMaybe · 16/11/2011 08:02

Oh wow AngryBeaver, I was wondering where you'd got to (I posted on an earlier thread, was LadyBee) - so you're nearly here!
If you remember, I grew up in Hamilton and my parents are still there, so visit often. If you want some insider knowledge about areas etc feel free to get in touch, and I'm totally happy to meet up for a coffee & chat once you arrive if you feel the need for some company, just PM me and I'll set it up - I have a DS aged 3 too. Hoorah for tenants and visa and flights and packers - goodness I remember the whirlwind. We've been here 6 months now but it feels like just a month ago Grin Oh and I got my phone unlocked from here - you can request it online if you forget. Good luck for the flight - just remember: you'll never see the other passengers again in your life.

Ladymaybe - LOL about the fact you'll never see the passengers again. Are you suggesting ABs kids won't be anything but little angels?

AngryBeaver · 16/11/2011 21:53

I promise I will update as soon as poss Smile
Haven't packed a bloody thing yet and we leave the house on mon! I think I'm putting it off until the last minute. It won't seem real until I'm packed.
lady

It would be great to meet up with you,I'll pm you with our email address.

As a little aside, if anyone in NZ needs kids clothes Farmers have 50% off all childrens clothes today :o

justabout I think Scroobious was referring to this thread,as opposed to the original thread which filled up.

AB One tip I heard for while you are waiting for your furniture to arrive from the UK (are you shipping furniture?). You can buy cheap outdoor table and chairs (stuff like this at the Warehouse, for example) and use it indoors, then when your proper furniture arrives you put the outdoor set in the garden.

ScroobiousPip · 17/11/2011 08:01

Yes, sorry, only just found this thread!

I second WhatSheSaid's advice - Warehouse fab for cheap garden furniture, inflatable mattresses (can resuse for camping/guests etc), cheap crockery to keep you going until your stuff turns up.

Lots and lots of luck.

holidaysoon · 17/11/2011 14:22

back later to see how it's all going need to go to bed just wanted to say ood luck to AB

holidaysoon · 17/11/2011 14:24

or even good
and to lolly

Highlander have you made a pros and cons list? sorry about your job how easy will it be to get another ? where is dh new job? 50% still or F/T?
sibble my mistake I saw KL and it was right after the Air Asia flights started so I assumed I shall have to start a new thread

AngryBeaver · 18/11/2011 14:14

Really good tip about the outdoor furniture, will definitely be doing that! Anything to make life easier until our stuff arrives.
Any news re jobs yet lolly and highlander?

Well,I think the pressure is getting to me more that I thought, more emotional goodbyes yesterday, and then I started to feel not right in the evening.
I went to a friends house for another goodbye, and then......fainted.Is if that wasn't bad enough,I then came round and......barfed everywhere!
Most shameful night ever! Everyone agreed was probably the strain of it all,but could have just died!
Goodbye party tonight. Not really looking forward to that. still feel pretty weak but cant call it off!
Anyway, only 3 more sleeps in this house and then our adventure starts! Smile

Its a lot to deal with Justabout - as well as moving. You need to look after yourself.

Nice thing will be to arrive here in summer and for the holidays though so hopefully you and AB can relax a bit, and at least have the kids outside and easily entertained in the good weather.

Great I reckon. School services a bit more patchy. But early intervention pretty good. Having said that, the conservative government seem to be doing their damndest to cut services all over the place without making large announcements about it.
The best thing you can do is get him in a Kindy/playcentre/whatever as soon as he's eligible and use them as a way to get the best services you can.
