Hi, moving to France in August and wondering if I will be able to get Sky TV?? I'm quite happy to say goodbye to a lot of aspects of living in the UK but not Sky! Thx!

You can put a sat dish up and should get sky tv, but will have to take your sky card with you, as you have to be registered at a UK address to get it.

I think that the French internet provider should offer some UK tv, am sure I have seen it advertised (we are over the border in Switzerland)

Take a box with you. Here (in Spain) we have it, but it's not technically legal as it's not UK/Eire. We have a gazillion 'Sky' installation people, but they charge about ?450 for a box. If you have the box (here at least) the charge to connect it using some clever phone thingy wotsit is between ?60 and ?250 depending on where you are.

I'd suggest finding the local English language newspaper(s) and check the ads for people in the area that you are moving to. What lots of people here do is take out a contract in the UK (a UK address is needed) with the package they want and then bring it all over and have it hooked up. We (developments) have community dishes which feed our boxes, but others have to get their own mini dish. My Mum lived in France for a few years (and Germany for many more) and this is what they did.

It's very easy to get sky tv here, there is a satellite company in Paris who specialise in installing sky. You can bring your own box and card and they will connect it for you or they can set you up with a box and take care of the subscription for you if you don't have a UK address still. Would recommend bringing your own box if you can as the do charge more than UK prices for it.
