Thinking of moving to Laren, The Netherlands

Dh and I are thinking of moving closer to our family in the Netherlands. They are spread between Arnhem and Rotterdam. We have been travelling around a bit picking places we like. and liked Laren for its villagey atmosphere, cute houses and friendly folk. However, also herd that it is very hard to "break into" the local community, that some consider Laren to be snooty...

What do you think? Just to give you an idea, we currently live close to Guildford and I used to live next to Marble Hill Park/St Margarets (nr Richmond). Any other suggestions?

Hi bemybebe, I just joined mumsnet to see if you ever moved to Laren? My husband and daughter are moving from Richmond and wondering if you like the town? I heard mixed reviews about the people being very snooty. We are looking for a friendly lovely village with access to international / billingual education and Laren looks like it fits our requirements. We are also looking at Bussum and Baarn. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
