Is your dog kept on a lead as my son is a bit frightened of them?

Have found a fantastic holiday place in Bavaria after many days searching but they have got a picture of a family dog and its a big one (looks a bit alsatian type) and my 8 year old is petrified when they run up to him, and I'm not too happy either.

So want to ask them the score re the dog and if its got free rein. Can write basic german but not sure I can say that!

We love the mountains, lucky you living so close to them! Will only take us about 2 days to drive there!!!
