Ok i am fairly well versed on australian car seat laws... however the dilema i have is that we have just bought a new car that has isofix points. I am aware that to use an iso fix seat atm is illegal and i have no idea how far down the line of gtesteing the people in the know are or are not... however seeing it is legal to use a booster seat with no tether starp even surely i could use an isofix booster seat for my next investment? to class as a boster set in guessing it could have no form of harnes so i'd have to use an H harness on the seat belt? The reason for wanting one is to not have the seat belt utilised all the time on both sides of the car and also not wanting Ds next to his new bub sister as he is a typical nearly 3 year old who is large for his age (19kg) and may cause dramas if he is toio close to his new sister!as well as the difficulty of getting to the middle car seat! any sugestions?

chloe - my 3yo is in an isofix - which I am assuming is the large clip that attaches to the bolted on hooks iyswim. She then has a H harness cause she was able to keep getting her arms out of the 5 point harness - no matter how tight I pulled it. See if I can find a pic. Dd3's seat is a 5 point harness to booster seat - where you can detach the 5 point seatbelt and use a H harness or just the seatbelt depending on age and weight.

I tend to go more on weight and height than on age iyswim. Dd1 was barely 7 when I had to take her out of a booster seat altogether. Her neck was higher than the back of the car seat and she would have suffered serious injury had we been in an accident.

this is our seat minus the arm rests It clips into the car and then we use the H harness instead of the 5 point.

Thanks for that eids. I figure also on the weight front as well as height. Did you buy the seat here? Or import it?

That car seat I got from a baby shop - Babyco in Aspley.

Dd2's seat - booster with arms - can take either harness or seatbelt - got from BigW. Her seat still is tethered too - rather than those you just throw on the seat iyswim.
