Oooh! Me! I'm in Africa - Johannesburg.

We've been here about 18 months, quite happy.

Yes, Christmas is just plain weird - carols in the shops, even snow on the Christmas cards but its bloody hot!

Haven't seen Evian - tap water is just fine though.
You get used to living with security, but even in a complex still be aware of your surroundings and be responsible for yourself!

Mozzie repellant - Peaceful Sleep.

Me too!

I'm in Botswana, been here a year after 5 in Zambia, which I still miss.

Done 2 x babies in the heat (born in UK & flew at 2 weeks), used washables, a/c & mozzie nets so ask away!

Glad I'm not alone - and it's not too far to Joburg from Gabz, maybe we could have an SA meet-up :)

Peaceful Sleep Meid, that was the one yes!

Good to see you Zam and Meid again. We can revitalise 'Off the Beaten Track'. Smile

Hello!

It's hot here, too - although cooler now than it has been for ages. I didn't switch the kitchen AC on today until midday! Wow.

The washable nappies I use are Motherease which I brought out from the UK, bought from Little Green Earthlets. Getting a bit lazy with DC4 and don't use them as much as I used to - but the great thing is you don't need many as you can wash, dry and put away in a day, thanks to the heat!

Indaba joins the party with a party hat and party bunting and waves from sunny Cape Town to all on this continent. Grin

I'm also in SA - Johannesburg, been here for just over 3 years.
Mixed opinion, missing f&f but not UK in general.
Christmas is just odd, making a vague effort with the tree for DS who is 2 but I'd love to take him home for a 'proper' Christmas

Meid · 26/12/2010 19:52

COsmos - I find my Christmas effort is more vague here too, that's actually a good way to put it. I can't totally get into the swing of it.

And I'm the same as you - missing the family and friends but not the UK.

Enjoying the life here - I never thought I'd settle in a hot country but I've adapted well!

Zam - if there was a Joburg meet I'd definitely attend.
