France - How are you coping with the fuel crisis?

Is anyone still managing to get fuel?

I refused to buy into the panic buying, but did get a bit panicky when I realised I would have to pick my 16 yr old niece up from the airport and didn't have enough to get there and back.

I filled up on Sunday, having queued for half an hour behind people filling up fuel cans in addition to their cars. I haven't tried since, but having checked out a few websites/forums which are monitoring stations in the local area and it seems that we really are running out.

I am not going to fill up again until the crisis is over and will just stay at home, tant pis. (will it get a whole lot worse or better when the reforms are passed by the Senate, which they surely will be?)

I think official advice is for people not to travel unless it is essential, if I am right?

Nantes seems ok bar vast amounts of rubbish on street.

West of Paris no fuel seems to be around at all really, virtually all petrol stations shut. Occasionally you can get petrol, the even rarer diesel tanker deliveries normally arrive with a police presence...and are sold out very quickly.

Dilbertina, if it's any help to you, I filled up this morning at the ESSO garage on the main road through La Celle Saint Cloud going up to Le Chesnay. They had petrol and diesel, minimal queues and no signs of running out...(can't remember what this road is called - it's the D321 going up to the crossroads with the D307).
Filled up there last week too with no particular probs.

Thanks Brioche, I did go there last week as I heard on grapevine they had diesel, but all gone when I got there (although you don't find that out until after you've queued and put your card in pump - doh! Drove on to BP towards Bailly and they were having a delivery so got in queue near front and filled up so should be ok for a couple of weeks, especially with no school runs. Hope all is well with you and yours.
