My dh is waiting for a relocation package for a role in Zurich

How much is enough? We have 3 dc age 11-2.

Do we need international school for the eldest?

The rentals seem really high, even coming from London/South East.

Also can anybody explain the different tax rates please? eg Zug lowest in Switzerland, how does it compare with Zurich?

And are the different areas in Zurich taxed differently? I was looking at the Old Town, Horton (sp) and Zug.

Appreciate any advice/knowledge.

Thanks.

Hello, I'm new to Mumsnet today and have enjoyed reading all the posts here.

My partner's job is potentially moving to Zurich from London. At the moment it's just the two of us but as it's going to take quite a while to sort, with luck, by the time it happens we may have a baby.

We are coming to visit the city in 2 weeks' time to look around and make a decision. While he's sorting out his work angle I will have 2 days to myself to try to answer some of the questions I've got relating to housing, social life, language, culture, mum and baby activities, feasibility of part-time work etc.

I have done some reading but there would be nothing better than being able to chat through things with someone face to face. Might anyone be free to meet for coffee on Tuesday 15th (am or pm) or Wednesday 16th (pm)? I would be really grateful and will happily bring Marmite, Calpol, Branston pickle, magazines or SR flour to say thanks!

Fingers crossed and I look forward to hearing from you,
Lizzie
