New thread, an open invite to anyone living with Stage 4 cancer to share your worries and joys and just generally chit chat about whatever you're going through today x

Yes, hopefully not too long a wait! Everything's a bloody wait 🙄

@GoldenDog1 that's my favourite part about all of this. Not. I'll just whip off X piece of clothing, it's easier to show you <sigh>.

The weather's looking ok here today, I'm listening to the birds chitter away 😊.

Anyone up to much?

lucysmam · 01/06/2025 09:07

@EachandEveryone how's physio going?

SewingBees · 01/06/2025 09:49

Quiet day here, last day before school is back so lots of washing to do.

Went to the Farne Islands with my daughter yesterday to see the puffins, a lovely day.

Good luck @GoldenDog1
Will be thinking of you. Whipping off the leggings, yep that’s about right! The things we have to do eh. Hopefully it’s nothing. X

@SewingBeesI watched a news report on puffins in Glamorgan. There was a geologist ( maybe not, but puffin expert) counting all the puffins around the island. Such beautiful creatures.

Major fed up this end. Getting depressed and want be single, living in a small house near the sea or in a town somewhere. In also want to be close friends only parents now. Been with partner 20+ years but the relationship has run its course. Huge sigh ☹️

Enigma53 · 01/06/2025 10:18

Meant close to parents. Stupid edit function! 🙈

SewingBees · 01/06/2025 10:54

@Enigma53 You've made me smile. My degree is in geology, but I'm definitely not a puffin expert.

I'm really sorry to hear about your relationship. Can you get out of it at all? It's scary, especially when dealing with serious illness, but I am so glad my relationship finally fully collapsed at the end of last year. I'm so much happier not having to see my husband all the time, it's easier to deal with my health problems and the emotional stuff that comes with it in my own space, and not having to also try and look after him and his health issues and unpredictable moods.

@SewingBees I may have to do some puffin research now. Birds fascinate me at the moment; they are pretty smart and funny and I love examining their intricate nests.

Yes will give the whole relationship horror, some thought. I’m very bad tempered because I’m so scared of this sarcoma and can’t get my pain under control properly. Equally, partner is annoying the crap out of me. He’s got the emotional intelligence of a fly!

Zomorph; is that what you take @SewingBees is it slow release? I’m on oxyxodone at the moment, the liquid type.

SewingBees · 01/06/2025 12:09

Yes I take zomorph, it's slow release morphine in capsule form. I take 4 x 10mg each day, two in the morning and two at night.

I tolerate it pretty well but at times it makes me feel a bit groggy, though that could in fact be one of the other meds I take (or a combination of them).

@Enigma53 would counselling help with your relationship stuff? Even just having a safe space to express your frustrations and anger might be a helpful release.

@SewingBees Okay thanks, will see how this week goes pain wise. I would like to try a slow release drug, rather than drawing up the syringe every hours.

I don’t know if this is useful for anyone on here but I’ve been granted a private prescription of cannabis oil to help with pain and oh my word it has really helped with pain

SewingBees · 02/06/2025 21:05

@sellotapechicken how did you get that prescribed? How do you administer it?

OP posts:
EachandEveryone · 02/06/2025 21:10

Yes I’m interested as well. My friend visited me today and took me out in a chair. She vapes and I asked to have a puff. It went straight to my head. I kind of enjoyed it. It was blueberry not cannabis😀 I’m on all kinds of pain relief nothing is touching this leg pain. I dread the physio it makes it ten times worse.

Are not still on the ket?

Enigma53 · 02/06/2025 21:41

I’ve signed up to curaleaf. It’s an online clinic which can prescribe cannabis for medical purposes. I’m going to book an appointment I think. My aunties neighbour is with them and is prescribed little cannabis lozenges.

Enigma53 · 02/06/2025 21:42

@sellotapechicken come back, we need you to answer questions! 🤣

EachandEveryone · 02/06/2025 22:09

The ket has ran out they have no more in stock😀

sellotapechicken · 03/06/2025 00:07

Ooh ok! Sorry! I got in touch with Curaleaf who are pretty good. Paid £50 for a consult on zoom and then they agreed I fitted the criteria (mental health & pain in my back which is bloody constant) then I had the option of oil so I can make cakes with it or take it directly or flowers to vape but the vapes are medical grade and ££££ like 200 + so I opted for the oil not the vape version and I cannot tell you how much it is helpings it’s also nice to know I’m not breaking the law!! 🤣

SewingBees · 03/06/2025 18:48

@sellotapechicken Are you experiencing any side effects from the oil?

No, no side effects. Just pain management . I got my nails done yesterday and I made brownies because I hate the taste of thc! :)

🤣 too true!!

EachandEveryone · 04/06/2025 09:44

Are you still on your pain relief drugs. I sent the link to my oncologist and he said he can’t say yes or no to it and he was concerned about the price. I’m going to give it a go though. It will be nice to take to Glastonbury.
