Grandmother 100 bowel cancer

My hail and hearty granny aged 100 has just been diagnosed with bowel cancer.
I am devastated. My aunt has been taking care of her since Easter when she started having tummy pains but she has still been living in her own home quite independently, doing a bit of gardening.
She says she’s alright it’s just that she sometimes gets painful stomach aches which are unpleasant and she’s lost her appetite.
She’s going in to a care home for one week to give my auntie (who has been a full time carer for a few months) a break.
She was so sweet on the phone saying that she loved life and wasn’t ready to die 😢.
I’m so heart broken for her that she’ll be in unfamiliar surroundings knowing that her life is coming to an end.
I don’t know how long she has got left but they are doing a CT scan on her soon to find out the extent of everything.
Not sure why I’m posting. I’m just I’m shock.

Sorry Op, it's just such a shock isn't it. The nurses told me it's often harder for the families than the person. I guess it depends. Your aunty sounds very special, I hope that you can have some special times with her.
Xx
