Water retention and end of life symptoms

Dad has been given a yr last March after battling rare aggressive small cell prostate cancer.He has lost 2 stone though steroids are helping him eat now and he isnt so exhausted.Over xmas he has been struggling to walk with leg pain and swelling which has been in one leg then the other.His face is swollen too.While he waits for water tablets which he will get next tue i wondered how nr the end does this happen ? does anyone have any experience of this.i know it is and end of life symptom x

When my DF was near the end they removed his catheter. He had prostate and lung cancer. He was swollen. He seemed water logged. He was extremely thin.
I asked him if he was in any pain and he said 'no' . He mainly slept during the last three weeks. Once the catheter was removed it was around a week before he died.
He was in his 90's
He asked to die, but obviously this was not a request we could help with. He said he was 'bored' with lying there.
I would so just like to pass away very quickly, having seen both my Parents struggle.
The time of death cannot be determined accurately as I have DCs who are Doctors and they couldn't tell me how much longer my DF had.

He's had a Lazarus-like recovery (though is clearly very frail) and his ankles are almost back to normal. The water retention tablets really worked - can you do anything to get them sooner than Tuesday? They will make a huge difference.

My dad has had swollen ankles for many months. He takes one Spironolactone 25mg tab a day which keeps the swelling maneagable though I think it was prescribed more for fluid in the abdomen. He is now on end -of-life care, mostly asleep but somewhat mobile still, carers 3 times daily, my DH and me full time all the time and his time left is unknown but I guess not long. It would help me to know but everyone is so different that nobody can tell. My mum was bed bound and on a morphine driver for 3 months (which is by all accounts unusual). x

Why does he have to wait till Tuesday for the tablets?
It sounds as if he needs them now.
Can you contact OOH for an urgent prescription? There is always a pharmacy open somewhere for emergencies.
