we might have fibromyalgia but we can still be fantastic

I've just been diagnosed with this and couldn't find a support thread.

Is anybody else out there with this horrible condition who wants to share support and ideas?

My gf was diagnosed 15 years ago. Exercise and diet and lots of sleep keeps it at bay mostly. Flare ups are stress related. Massage helps.

I was diagnosed in Sept '12 (about 6 months after DD was born) and try to manage it with rest (easier said than done), watching what I eat, dietary supplements and occasional prescription sleeping pills and tramadol. It's never good but I've had weeks where is hasn't been awful.

I'm newly pregnant (only 6 weeks) and so can't take any of my supplements or prescriptions. I'm shattered, feel sick and have a lot of pain which stops me sleeping......... I knew pregnancy wasn't going to be great but I hadn't anticipated feint this rough quite so fast!!

Hi, I've been diagnosed for 2years but symptomatic for 4. I am currently managing by only working 4 days with Wednesday's off so that I can rest halfway through the week and recover my energy. I also have a fairly physical job where I am moving a lot which helps but can decide my schedule so if I am flaring I can do less.
I'm also prescribed tramadol which I try to avoid taking as I find I push myself too hard when I can't feel my pain so much.

I've had this condition for several years and been on many different types of medication none of them helped I'm now on oxycontin baclofen and paracetamol along with antidepressants for my depression and anxiety but I have to say that I struggle with the fatigue the pain I can live with

I've recently been diagnosed with this (also have RA which, until now, I put a lot of the symptoms down to).

Waiting for the consultant to write to my gp and get them to prescribe amitriptyline, which I'm not altogether sure I want to take. I guess I need to see the gp about it, but I'm wondering if anyone here has experience taking it and did it help? I've heard it knocks you out a bit, which isn't much use to me since the DC are only young and wake through the night still.
