We've just become dads and have a five month old daughter through surrogacy. We'd love to hear from any other gay/lesbian parents who live in our area or in the northwest as we feel as though we're the only ones doing this round here!! That can't be true!! So we'd love to hear from you :)

I'd like to add my congratulations. I'm close to you but not in a same sex relationship and my DC are older too. Unless you're really keen to meet people who are in a similar position to you (I can understand why you'd feel like this) I'd just encourage you to go to all the baby groups you can. There'll be loads of other parents put there you'll click with and who can give you support and advice.

Thanks jonicomelately. Great advice. It would be great to meet others in similar situations but it's not an essential. Thank you for your support :)

Aww congratulations! Grin

Have you asked your health visitor? What about children's centres or health centres? I always see lgbt support group posters in ours so they MUST know of parents in a similar situation to yourselves.

teamace · 06/04/2014 19:15

Thanks dobedobedo. I haven't seen any posters unfortunately. Our health visitor is lovely but I think this is new territory for her! There's not much doing at the children's centre either. I'll keep my ear to the ground though!

I've had a little look for you and there's a group called Out2play who are based in Cheshire. They may be worth googling. Otherwise, why not try Manchester?

This looks like a fun group who may be worth making the trip down the east Lancs Road for.

teamace · 06/04/2014 20:28

Thanks so much for all your fantastic suggestions! Not sure if out2play is still running but will have a look into it. The Manchester based group looks really promising and a great find. Much appreciated! :)

Hi, we're gay dads too. We have a daughter of two and a half and a son of four months. Our children were also born through surrogacy. We live in Essex but sometimes travel to your area.

teamace · 07/04/2014 06:37

Hi Tony1234. Thank you for your reply. Great to hear from you! Would you be able to inbox me for email details and we will get in touch?

We are lesbian mums with a 15 month old little girl. We are looking to meet new people in a similar situation. Not a great deal of information about groups in the area. Would love to meet up with new people
