DD (4) was wondering about a few flags we saw at Gay Pride. The rainbow one. What does it mean? And the one with the bear print? What does it mean?

Rainbow flag represents diversity and inclusiveness, according to Google.

I guess you could reasonably tell her the bears are men who like men who look a bit like bears. Or maybe not...

In Italy the rainbow flag was used alot in the demonstrations against the Iraq war, to symbolise peace etc. Our American friend was amused and kept asking us why we had a gay pride flag.
Many people hung them from their balconies, and they were around for a long time. I passed some time during labour with DD in 2004 counting how many I could see from the labour room, which was on the 9th floor.
