My eldest is (their terms) non binary queer in a lesbian relationship (I repeat, their own terminology)
This weekend was my local pride event and my eldest was visiting for the weekend
I hadn't realised it was pride, but we were in town doing errands and spotted the start of the march to the main event
I asked if they wanted to march
They said no because they felt they never had to fight to be themselves as when they came out, I just said 'I know, and always have known'
For the first time in my parenting journey, I've always felt I was fumbling, particularly with them.
My heart feels lighter now than before I had my kids
