Telegraph article. Children who are questioning their gender identity will be assessed for autism and same sex attraction. Two cohorts that are dramatically over-represented in young people identifying as trans.

There’s already a long thread about this on the Feminist board OP. The consensus is that this is a good thing.

Yes, I know. There isn't much overlap between people using the two boards and I thought it important for parents using this board.

Article in the Telegraph featuring a family whose autistic teenage son identified as transgender then subsequently desisted.

@Lovelyview thank you for this. I saw the article in the Metro and also thought it was a good thing. At last, people seem to be more confident about speaking on this issue i.e. that there may be other factors at play such as bullying and trauma all of which go hand-in-hand with being Neurodivergent. It it is such a shame for the young people with autism caught up in this trans ideology.
Young people with autism can spend their formative years in fight of flight and fail to build an identity. It is no wonder that they then start to question if they are trans, particularly with everything they read on social media. And other young people are so supportive and accepting that the young person may find that for the first time in their lives people are much kinder to them. It’s not hard to see why they would embrace being trans.

My anecdata is that girls who have been sexually abused are also massively over represented. I wonder if they are planning to screen for that.

It says they're going to look at their relationship with their family which could include abuse - I don't know how willing a young person would be to disclose this though.

Agreed. Hopefully that would be something that therapy would address - assuming they are going for a holistic approach
