Fiction recommendations for 10yo DS

DS aged 10 has liked boys since forever. He has read and re-read the Adam Kay books for kids til the covers are falling off as he knows Adam Kay is married to a man. We don't have many RL LGB models for him so looking for recommendations of any books where the characters are gay (but it's incidental to the story rather than being a book about being gay).

Thanks

Sorry I cannot offer suggestions — but I do wonder why you are specifically looking for books with gay relationships rather than just good books? Most boys “like” boys and most girls “like” girls — are you reading too much into your son’s young interests.
how about just good adventure books (ie the Adventure series; or Kensuke’s Kingdom or (old fashioned) Biggles series) or classic books with animal characters (ie Wind in the Willows) or books where groups of youth just have fun (ie Swallows and Amazons series).
i hope others can give you ideas of books with gay relationships, if that’s really what you want — but I would encourage you to nurture your son’s interest in reading by encouraging a wide range of genres.

If you can't understand why a teenager would want to read a book with characters who are relatable to them then all your reading clearly hasn't given you much in the way of empathy.

Murder most Unladylike by Robin Stevens has gay characters (but I think that is revealed later in the series), as does Nevermoor by Jessica Townsend (but again not early in the series). Glitter Boy by Ian Eagleton is about a young boy who is gay (so not incidental) but would still recommend as a good read. The Secret Life of Scarlet Fife by Maz Evans has incidental gay characters.

There's LOADS more LGBTQ+ representation once he moves to teen fiction. Heartstoppers by Alice Oseman would be fine for him now but NOT her other stuff which is for older teens.

Bossiness: As a child, a teen, a young adult and an older adult — I have always read fiction (and nonfiction) from many different perspectives. That is, indeed, how I developed empathy.
(Given my own unique circumstances, I never read any book with characters”like me” and I am glad. If I had read about “people like me”, I might have absorbed stereotypes about what I should like and how I should behave. Instead, I was able to absorb different perspectives and select from among them what seemed appropriate and comfortable for me.

I can think of a couple but they are more teen.

You could vet the Heartstopper series and see if it's appropriate? I haven't read it

A 10 year old isn't a teenager. I can't think if any books for that age that talk about sexuality. Rick Riordan books definitely have characters who are gay in them but he's a straight author so don't know if that counts.

The last firefox, the boy in it has two Dads, great book and a sequel is due out this month.

Another recommendation for Rick Riordan (of Percy Jackson fame). I don't think there are any gay characters in the original series, but definitely in the more recent ones. The books are great to read aloud as well.
