Hi my 12 year old daughter recently came out with that she wouldn't care if she was referred to as "They"

Anybody had experience in this ?

It seems to be quite common in some young people, it may mean they identify as non-binary. It does seem quite young but they may have read about it, etc.

are their pronouns she/they or they/them? that’s the first question to ask your child. i’d sit them down and tell them that you’re supportive and want to be educated on the topic to support them correctly. it may seem confusing or scary at first but it really isn’t complicated and your child will be much happier if you support them through it! also this may not be the last time your child is coming out- they’re young and discovering themselves and they will just be trying on what fits them and what they feel comfortable as, but that doesn’t make them any less valid.
