My child has come out as transgender

My 16 year old has come out as trans, she is MtF.
How can I best support her?
How do I handle this with family at Christmas?
I would take her shopping but we are in tier 3 and self isolating pre Christmas, and her clothes are pretty androgynous anyway.
Do I have to speak to doctor to change her name?
Is there anything important I should know?

Fine if it's not what you need. However it's not horribly transpohobic. And that was the comment I was responding to. So I'm not quite sure what the face was for. A bit rude. I'll leave you to it. Hope your child finds the help that they need.

Also The thinkg is no matter how one tries, no matter what operations one has a boy isn,t a girl and a firl isn,t a boy. Make sure they understand what is they mean when they say they are a women Why are they saying this. What do they want to change or expect to happen. Have they thought abpoout the negative effects. Have they looked at trans regretters. What about relationships and furutre children. Soo much to talk about.

This is good advice. Your child's brain is still developing and won't be done until 25. Be loving and supportive, reassuring but don't take any action yet.
