Can you give me legal advice?

Booked a holiday cottage in Devon, a shower was listed as a facility. We turned up, shower was broke for 5 out of the 7 days. I have asked the company for a partial refund as the shower wasn't working and it was a big inconvenience when there are 5 of us.

Is there anything legally I can quote at them when I reply to the letter I received from the director? The director is saying complaints can't be considered after departure but I complained whilst we were there too.

I'm not after a lot, just think they should do it as a gesture of goodwill really.
