DH forgot to pay his Congestion charge. Still waiting for the bill!

DH went into London briefly last Thursday, then travelled North where he stayed away. On Saturday he remembered, swore and phoned them to plead his case & pay.

They said "Sorry, we cannot take payment this late (within 48 hours), you will have to wait for the fine. £120 or £60 if paid promptly.

So, tomorrow is 2 weeks after the "offence". How long do they take?

Very annoyed. We were hoping could have paid a bit less for "confessing" so quickly as have been caught out before by coming home from a theatre trip and logging online to pay, to find it has just gone midnight so price gone up.

He is going to have to start paying in advance, just didn't know you coud do that until now!

Hard to believe it'd take 2 weeks to 'fine' him. Not sure how you'd find out either. Bloody CC.

Just to add I had to sort out a fine for my boss, I kept ringing them asking when we would receive the Notice and was told there was a backlog of approximately 6 weeks!

6 Weeks!!! blimey!

DH did the same and phoned to confess. They told him that they couldn't find his registration on their log, so he obviously hadn't been picked up.

Several weeks later the fine came through.

So much for being honest.
