long story short i had a MAJOR run in with a woman on the reception desk at my local countil gym. im not a member and was there to attend a weight management programme. anyway she was rude to me when i arrived but i ignored it, then i had cause to go back to the desk where she and her colleague knew i was waiting but chose to ignore me. this made my blood boil so i said "HELLO" while waiting my hand over my face just in case i was invisible. other poeple being ignored laughed which made this angry so this woman started on me and i gave it back. she accused me of being aggressive which i was not. the friend also started on me and joined in on the witch hunt. she then shouted across the the woman i was there to see and started taking about me, i went into the room to get weighted and the woman who weighted me was lovely,. on leaving i asked for the names of the two behind the desk. they again said i was rude aggressive was said about 15 times. i felt bullied and picked on just because i stood up to two people who think they are running the place who are not!!!!!i was so stressed and upset i couldnt sleep. i was never asked to leave but was told cctv would prove i was aggressive!!!!
i emailed their boss last night who e mailed me but didnt even bother to start the email with my name he just wrote " i was made aware of the incident this morning and i tried to phone you, i will try again tomorrow. no dear xxxxx , regards xxxxx.
i feel like i have no one on my side and rude staff who dont do their job can get away with poor service as long as they shout your aggressive, your aggressive.
what can or should i do. i felt the eamil was cold and im afraid i wont get a fair trial in a matter of speaking.
i want to take this matter as far as i can. but how do i find out who the head of the council is.
sorry for the rant

"this angry" should read "made them angry", sorry about that.

Oh dear. THis is a difficult one. Without knowing the full story of what happened/what was said it is hard to comment at all. I am not saying you should set it all out here by the way.

Based on what you have said, I think you are obviously hurt and upset by it and these people may owe you an apology but you may have to accept that you won't get one - going by the email you have received.

If you really want to pursue this, you need to be clear about what you expect at the end of it. If an apology will do, then you should start by emailing an account of what happened and what was said that particularly upset you. Try to keep to the facts and not let emotion overtake you. At the end of the account request an apology.

Send the email to the manager and, if you wish, copy it into the Chief Exec of the Council. You will be able to find the name and possibly an email for your Council Chief Exec on the COuncil's website. Otherwise phone the COuncil (general number or Customer First number) and request that they give you the contact details for the Chief Exec.

Good luck with it.

thanks so much for that, i did as you suggested and am now waiting for the manager to phone me again on monday to arrange a meeting. all i want is an apology face to face from the two members of staff that ganged up on me. your right i was really hurt and felt bullied just for pointing out they were rude. i seems to me that some people get nice little council jobs and think they are secure for life regardless of what they do or say to people. lets hope my standing up for myself will help other people in the end.
thanks again for your help
x

What did she do that was rude to you when you arrived?

when i entered at reception i asked for the weight managment programme. the woman didnt even look up and snapped "sit over there Eileen will come and get you". i assumed she meant sit on those seats over there. i wasnt even worth making eye contact with. she should have told me which door but she didnt.
