Certified copy of passport - certified by whom?

In order to prove who I am, my solicitor has asked for a certified copy of a form of ID eg driving licence or passport. When getting the passport photo certified, it just has to be someone of social standing who has known me for more than two years. In this instance does it have to be another solicitor or would my neighbour who is a doctor suffice?
Many thanks.

doctor will be fine.

Can't you show the solicitor the original and he can make a certified copy if he needs to?

usually any professional person who has known you for more than two years will do.

A friend who is a doctor is good. Although if it's your own doctor they will charge you.

Many thanks everyone. Lonicera - it's complicated and we are currently corresponding by email, letter and phone. At £225 per hour, I'd rather not waste his time when I actually do get to meet him!
