Are companies suppossed to ask you how many kids you have when applying for a job??

I always thought this was a bit of a no no, but on my application form it asks how many children I have and their ages. Never seen this on an application form before, feel a bit about the comapny now

They are entering a minefield if they ask questions like that and leaving themselves open to all kinds of claims for discrimination.

For example if you and a male were up from the same job, then you might argue that there was sex discrimination. The situation would be worse if they didn't ask a male applicant the same question.

You are right to be cautious
