Can anyone advise me, Council home - with self fitted fireplace?!

Basically when we moved in we had a council gas fireplace.

For our wedding present our FIL bought us an electric fire, we got it fitted ourselves.

But its crap, it costs a fortune to run and its not warm.

We NEED a gas fire back in.

If we call the housing and explain will they give us one?

Plus we had 'modernisation' done a few months ago and were suppost to get a new fire but they said they had 'run out' but now my granny is getting the same done months later and has just gotten a fire?!

Any ideas?

You can try the housing, but I suspect it'd be faster to buy a gas fire and have it fitted yourself.

Can you say your fire isnt working and enquire as to when you can expect your new/modernised fire to be fitted?

But her fire is working, it's just not good enough. OP, was the gas fire you threw out still in good working order?
